John "Jackie" Nowitzke, Jr. died Monday, November 19, 2018, at Tall Woods Care Center in Bayville. He was 71.
Born in New Brunswick to the late John J. and Mary (Pfieffer) Nowitzke, he lived in North Brunswick for most of his life. He was a meter reader for the Township of North Brunswick for 35 years before retiring in 2006.
Mr. Nowitzke served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971. He was a member of the VFW Clark-Moetz Post #2319 in Milltown and the American Legion, A. Leigh Pardun Post #459 in North Brunswick. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #263 in North Brunswick, the Eagles Athletic Club in New Brunswick and the B.P.O. Elks #1875 in Toms River.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother William Nowitzke and his sister Jill Nowitzke. Surviving are his brother Dennis P. Nowitzke and his wife Christine of Manchester; a niece January Reckeweg; and three nephews – Christopher Nowitzke, Corey Neal and Eric Appel.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the NJ Elks Camp Moore, c/o Toms River Elks #1875, 600 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753.
