Anna M. (Sestanovich) Nestor died peacefully at her home in New Brunswick, surrounded by friends and family, on Monday, May 15, 2023, a day after her 100th birthday.
Born in Jersey City to the late Stephen and Rosetta (Brown) Sestanovich, she lived in New Brunswick for the past 70 years. She was a secretary for the New Brunswick Public Schools for 18 years before retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Nestor was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in New Brunswick and was a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society.
She was predeceased by her husband John A. Nestor in 2001; and by her sisters – Claire Coleman and her husband Robert and Rita Brennan and her husband Patrick. Surviving are two daughters – Marian Deiter of LaJolla, California and Kathy Nestor of Sparta; her son Jack Nestor and his wife Arlene of Carrboro, North Carolina; her brother Stephen Sestanovich of Pembroke Pines, Florida; three grandchildren – Kevin Deiter and his wife Alli, Harry Nestor and Hayley Nestor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 9:15 AM Friday, May 19, 2023 from Selover Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Parish in New Brunswick, NJ, the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
