Obituary of Joseph Lombardo

Joseph S. Lombardo, Sr. passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation Center. He was 95.

Mr. Lombardo was born in New Brunswick, he lived in North Brunswick until he moved to Flemington in 2006. Mr. Lombardo worked in the building maintenance department at the North Brunswick Board of Education for 14 years before his retirement in 1988. Prior to that he owned and operated the Lombardo's Auto Body until 1966 in North Brunswick and he worked at Lincoln Mayflower Movers, North Brunswick. He faithfully served his country during World War II, in the European Theater with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church, New Brunswick; member of American Legion Post #459, North Brunswick, was the last surviving charter member of the North Brunswick First Aid Squad, and in 2017 Ridgewood Avenue, North Brunswick was alternately Lombardo Way to commemorate his veteran service to his country.

Mr. Lombardo was predeceased by his wife Irene (Nuzzo) Lombardo in 2012; his parents – Salvatore and Nunzia (Bronzellino) Lombardo. Surviving are his children—Joseph S. Lombardo, Jr. of Flemington, and Nancy L. (Frederick J.) Wagner of Bethlehem, PA.

Visitation will be Tuesday March 13, 2018, from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Selover Funeral Home. Committal will follow in Saint Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick
