Obituary of James F. Reed

James F. Reed, Sr. died Friday, August 3, 2018, at Cranbury Care Center in Monroe Township. He was 66.

Born in Paterson, NJ to the late Warren J. and Genevieve (Jen) (Skapczynski) Reed he was raised in Brooklyn, NY before calling North Bergen, NJ home. He then moved and lived in East Windsor before retiring to Monroe Township over 10 years ago. He spent a majority of his early life in transportation and logistics. He started as a truck driver and eventually started his own trucking company J&S Trucking. A devote family man, he had to choose a steady check over the ebbs and flows of being a sole proprietor of a small business. He settled on being a chemical compounder for International Flavors and Fragrances in Dayton and then upon retirement still worked at AAA Limousine and Home Depot.

By his own account, he was not the best of us, but would often say, "he will do till the best get here."

He was a diehard NY Giants fan, a Cub Scout leader, a football coach.

He was the least tech savvy person in existence, but somehow is known to some as 'Cyber-Jim'.

A consistently terrible golfer by his own admission, but he would address this by saying "you miss 100% of swings you do not take" and " your worst day on the golf course is better than your best day at work".

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Genevieve Deluise (Janie Reed). Surviving are his wife Susan Anne Reed; two sons – James Reed, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Danville, California and Brian Reed and his wife Casey of Princeton; his daughter Kerri Reed of Hamilton; a brother Warren Reed and Sister-in-law Robin Reed of Delray Beach, Florida; and six grandchildren – Ava, Amanda, Aiden (Little Jim), Alyssa and Janie Reed and Genevieve (and her mother Mary) Rosenberger.

Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Private cremation will follow.
