Henry F. Salzmann passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 98.
Born in Harrison he moved to East Brunswick 72 years ago. Mr. Salzmann was an auto mechanic for fifty years beginning with Mount's Ford, Landis Ford, Circle Ford, Sansone Ford and he retired from Malouf Ford in 1998. He honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Salzmann was the recipient of a purple heart after being wounded at the Battle of Anzio.
Mr. Salzmann is predeceased by his wife Leona V. (Olsson) Salzmann in 2003, a daughter Linda Salzmann in 2013, his parents Henry F. and Viola (Rau) Salzmann Goddard, his brother George Salzmann, sister's Elizabeth Lott, Gertrude Allen, and Veronica Salzmann. His half-brothers William Goddard, Gottlieb Goddard and Howard Goddard. Mr. Salzmann is survived by his daughter Joan Slaght of Georgia; a sister Violet Murphy of Memphis, TN. Three grandsons- Christopher Garber-Slaght (Robbin), Jonathan Slaght (Karen) and David Slaght. Two great grandchildren Hendrik and Anwyn Slaght. A special nephew Donald Salzmann and his wife Kathy.
Funeral services will be on Thursday September 27, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Selover Funeral Home, 555 George's Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM. The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, North Brunswick.
