Charles F. Batten died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 74.
Born in Mt. Vernon, New York to the late Charles G. and Catherine C. (Novitsky) Batten, he was raised in Westchester County and lived in Queens before moving to North Brunswick, New Jersey in 1987. He was a graduate of the Technical Career Institute and became an electrical maintenance engineer for the Metropolitan Transit Authority in New York City for over 27 years before retiring in 2009.
Mr. Batten was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Milltown. He was a calm, kind and supportive man who was brave and strong until the end. He was well loved and liked by all and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He enjoyed time with his family, fishing and outdoor activities and all animals. He loved watching horse races and especially walks with his best pal, Sunshine.
Surviving are his wife Diana (Kenko) Batten; his daughter Jessica Batten of Putney, Vermont; his son Charles Batten and his fiancée Lourdes Garcia of Monroe Township; his sister Carol Killian of White Plains, New York; and his dog Sunshine.
Cremation was private. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick with a memorial service to be held at 7:30 PM at Selover Funeral Home.
