My heart is sad today, Mr. DeGaetano was my 8th grade Math teacher in Sayreville.
He was a wonderful, kind, and compassionate teacher. He touched the lives of many students.
I hope his family finds strength in their memories of him.
He is gently being carried home in the arms of the Angels....

My deepest condolences go out to the entire Degaetano family. I always enjoyed my time with Art and spent many nights with him at Juvenile Conference Committee meetings working with at-risk adolescents. Art was a voice of reason during those proceedings. He was firm with the kids, yet treated them with respect. In turn, he earned their respect back. There is no telling how many young lives were touched by Art's fatherly advice, but I'm sure the number is a great many. He will be sorely missed. I asked my wife, Lynn, who departed this world on August 11, to meet Art at the gates and show him around up there. :-)

Joe and I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the Degaetano family. Art was a great neighbor for over 40 years. He always had a biscuit in his pocket for our dog Tito when I walked him past his house. Going to miss catching up with him when I walked passed his house and he was sitting outside his garage. Rest In Peace Art.
