I was always proud of my older cousin. He was smart, funny and he knew how to have fun. He was an inspiration to all who knew him, and that was many. Bruce enjoyed being around people, as we saw with the many causes and committees he was involved with. We lived in different circles, so I didn’t get to see him that often through the years but, when I did, he lit up the room with laughter or, at least, with that big smile. Ironically, the pandemic brought us closer; we had virtual family meetings every two weeks during much of 2020. Bruce didn’t want to retire, but I imagined the adventures he and Jackie would go on once he did. Those post-retirement adventures didn’t happen, but his was still a life well lived. United Way of Central Jersey mourns the loss of our friend and colleague. Bruce held a leadership position within our Community Impact Division for over 20 years. This Division is responsible for investing donor resources in evidence-based programs with documented impact upon the health, behavior, skills, academic performance and knowledge of vulnerable young children. Bruce consistently phrased tremendously complex questions regarding program outcomes and financing to applicant non-profits in a pleasant and non-threatening manner; yet effectively delivering a message if concern. We will miss his presence and hopefully will continue his legacy of kindness to all. United Way of Central Jersey Board and Staff
