Frank Varga died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his home in North Brunswick. He was 91.
Born in New Brunswick to the late James and Sophie Varga, he lived there and in North Brunswick before moving to Kingston, Tennessee for 30 years. He returned to New Jersey two years ago. He was an automotive mechanic and owner of Varga Transmission Center in North Brunswick for over 30 years before his retirement in 1983.
Mr. Varga was a former member of Metuchen Assembly of God Church, as well as the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and the North Brunswick Lions Club. He was an avid RVer and was the founder of SOWERS, an RV ministry. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and a licensed boat captain.
His wife Ann (Griffin) Varga died in 2015. He was also predeceased by two brothers James Varga and John Varga; and his sister Sophie Nelson. Surviving are two sons – Frank Varga, Jr. and his wife Kathleen and Joseph Varga and his wife Peggy, all of North Brunswick; two daughters – Carol Varga-Perry of North Brunswick and Gina Gregg and her husband Glenn of Blue Anchor; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Cremation was private. A gathering of family and friends will take place 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Metuchen Assembly of God, 130 Whitman Avenue, Metuchen with a memorial service to be held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the church. Arrangements are by Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick.
