Obituary of Carmelinda N. Bellizia
Carmelinda (Nigro) Bellizia died Monday, July 3, 2023, at Complete Care at Ocean Grove. She was 92.
Born in New Brunswick to the late Patsy and Michelina (La Morte) Nigro, she lived in New Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick in 1962. She has lived in Wall Township for the past two years. Mrs. Bellizia loved her birthplace of New Brunswick and was fiercely proud of her New Jersey roots. She was forever devoted to her parish of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick where she had been baptized, educated, married, sang in the choir and witnessed the weddings and funerals of her loved ones. The parish was founded by Italian immigrants and there was nothing she was more proud of than her Italian heritage. She was also a member of the church's St. Anne Society and Golden Age Club.
She was a member of the North Brunswick Senior Citizens and the AARP of North Brunswick and was an election poll worker in North Brunswick for 65 years. She enjoyed international travel and cooking for large family gatherings.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Vincent R. Bellizia, Sr. in 1998; her brother Andrew Nigro in 1953; and her sister Catherine Tomori in 1995. Surviving are her daughter Linda Hagen and her husband Todd of Yardley, Pennsylvania; three sons – Prosper Bellizia and his wife Juliet Astor of Ocean Grove, Patsy John Bellizia and his wife Hannifer of Milltown and Vincent R.
