Obituary of Rocco Nastasi

Rocco Nastasi died Thursday October 19, 2023, at Francis E. Parker Memorial Home in New Brunswick. He was 96.

Born in San Pier, Niceto, Sicily, Italy to the late Nicola and Concetta (Mondi), He immigrated to Australia in 1949, married in 1953 and came to the United States in 1960, settling in New Brunswick before moving to Edison in 1963. He owned and operated Rocco's Barber Shop in Milltown for 30 years before retiring in 1989.

Mr. Nastasi was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in New Brunswick.

His wife Concetta (Sfameni) Nastasi died in January. He was also predeceased by four brothers – Joseph, Peter, Anthony and Nicola Nastasi; and two sisters – Catherine Mastrobuono and Rose Coffaro. Surviving are three sons – Nick Nastasi and his wife Pamela of Little Egg Harbor, Joseph Nastasi and his fiancée Jane Duke of Raritan Township in Hunterdon County and Peter Nastasi and his wife Lois of South River; two sisters – Carmella Pinizzotto of Highland Park and Antoinette Fareri of North Brunswick; four sisters-in-law – Pat Ravida, Carmella Meo, Sarina Villani and Mary Miles, all of Victoria, Australia; his brother-in-law Santo Sfameni of Victoria, Australia; his grandson Nicholas Nastasi and his wife Chelsea; and his great granddaughter Emilie Nastasi.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday, October 23, 2023, at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by a 10:30 AM Mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
